Mother and son charged with timeshare fraud

When the real estate market hit bottom a few years ago many people who had invested in Florida timeshares sought to get out of their expensive investments. This led to a rise in timeshare resale fraud in the state, as unscrupulous businesses tried to take advantage of desperate sellers. The fallout from that period continues, as federal authorities continue to make arrests in connection with this form of theft by fraud. Recently a mother and son were among the latest charged with involvement in a timeshare resale scheme.

Norwegian man convicted of bond jumping by Florida jury

Lawyers like to say that someone who represents himself in court "has a fool for a client." Some attribute the quote to Abraham Lincoln. Whoever first said it, there is a lot of truth in the old adage. A Norwegian man who was recently convicted of bond jumping by a Broward County jury may be one of the latest people to regret not hiring a lawyer to handle his defense.

Consensual search leads to drug arrest in South Florida

When police make a drug arrest it is often the result of a traffic stop, a police investigation, or someone calling the police to report suspicious activity. It is unusual for an arrest on drug charges to follow from the suspect calling the police himself. But that is what happened to a 77-year-old Marathon, Florida man recently. To make matters worse for the man, when police arrived he consented to a search of his trailer.
