Man accused of robbing a bank in Florida

A man in Florida was accused of robbing a bank on Feb. 3. According to Broward Sheriff's Office deputies, the 43-year-old man entered a Wells Fargo bank in Pompano Beach at about 4:30 p.m. and demanded cash. Following the incident, deputies quickly reported to the scene on North Federal Highway, and helicopters and police dogs were dispatched to the area.

An FBI report of the incident alleged that the accused man entered the bank without making any attempt to cover his face or tattoos. After approaching the bank teller, the man presented a letter that allegedly instructed the teller to hand over some money. The man then left the bank with the cash. There were no reports of anyone being injured during the alleged theft.

While authorities were conducting a search, a clear photo of the alleged bank robber standing at the bank counter was released to the public at about 6:30 p.m. The next morning, the man was located and taken into custody. It is unclear where the man was found or what evidence led authorities to the man's location. He is now being held in federal custody and is facing federal charges.

A person accused of bank robbery might face less severe charges if there was no weapon involved in the incident. An attorney may be able to help represent an accused bank robber and advocate for less severe penalties based on the fact that there was no weapon and other relevant factors. In some cases, a plea deal can be worked out in which certain charges are dropped against a defendant in exchange for a guilty plea for the remaining charges.
