Florida teen faces juvenile charges for weapon possession

Certain situations can have a substantial impact on an individual's life, especially at a young age. Some of those situations could be beneficial, but there are instances that could have negative effects. Juvenile charges can be considerably negative, particularly if an individual is convicted of such charges. Therefore, having legal knowledge could be helpful for parties facing such circumstances.

One Florida high school student may be exploring his legal options after he was taken into custody. The situation began after the student allegedly threatened to shoot two other students. He was later confronted by a resource officer after a parent informed authorities about the situation. The 16-year-old boy told the officer that he was not serious about the threat and had not planned to hurt anyone.

After being questioned as to whether the student had any weapons on school property, the teen purportedly revealed a pocket knife and stated that he had a gun in his vehicle. He allegedly gave officers permission to search his vehicle, and the gun and ammunition were reportedly found inside. The boy was taken into custody on a felony charge of having a weapon on school grounds.

The situation the teenager is currently facing should be taken seriously. Juvenile charges, especially a felony charge, could negatively impact his future prospects if he is convicted. Gaining knowledge on these charges and the Florida criminal process may help him better understand his circumstances. This information may also help him create a defense against the charges if he hopes to maintain his innocence in the situation.
