Woman faces felony charges after fatal Florida accident

When a person is under considerable emotional strain, he or she may not make the wisest decisions. Such decisions could lead to an individual winding up in an unfortunate situation, such as being involved in a car accident. If the individual was under the influence and the accident resulted in a fatality, felony charges could follow. In such a situation, the accused party may wish to look into legal proceedings and available options.

A 24-year-old woman in Florida may be hoping to gather helpful information regarding her situation after being taken into custody. It was reported that the woman was involved in a car accident that purportedly resulted in the death of one individual. The driver reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign, and the vehicle collided with a truck.

Reports also stated that the driver had allegedly sent text messages to her boyfriend -- with whom she was apparently fighting -- stating that she was driving drunk. It was also reported that the driver had a blood-alcohol level over twice the legal limit. She was charged with vehicular homicide, DUI manslaughter and other DUI related allegations. She pleaded not guilty to the charges.

By entering a plea of not guilty, the woman is likely focused on preparing a criminal defense to the felony charges she currently faces. Examining evidence that the prosecution may have against her and taking other steps may help her prepare for the coming court proceedings. Information regarding Florida criminal proceedings relating to DUI and vehicular homicide may also be beneficial as her case moves forward.
