Men accused of grand theft after Florida ATM incident

Individuals who have been accused of criminal activity are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court. Parties who have been accused of theft have multiple defensive options that they could potentially consider. If they wish, they may demand that the prosecution prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt, a burden that is often easier said than done. They also have the right to present evidence and offer testimony to contest the accusations made by the prosecution.

Two individuals may be assessing their defense options after being taken into  custody. It was recently reported that two men in Florida allegedly used a backhoe to steal an automated teller machine, or ATM, from a bank. The two reportedly had taken the backhoe from an nearby construction site, used it to dislodge the ATM and then loaded the ATM into the back of a truck.

The individuals were reportedly apprehended by authorities not long after the alleged incident. It is unclear how police became alerted to the situation. As a result, the two are facing charges for grand theft. The ATM had reportedly not been opened when police apprehended the suspects.

Grand theft charges can result in serious consequences if an individual is actually convicted. Therefore, the accused men may wish to determine the best approach to their defense. Information on Florida criminal proceedings relating to the charges they face may give each of them a better understanding of the legal situation. Additionally, each may want to consult their own legal counsel for guidance and support with respect to the coming court proceedings.
