Man charged after over $400,000 worth of drugs seized

On Sept. 16, a Florida man was taken into custody and charged after investigators found more than $400,000 worth of drugs after executing a search warrant. The activity took place at a residence located in the 700 block of Redwood Avenue in Panama City at about 6 p.m.

During the execution of the search warrant, authorities recovered about 156.9 grams of cocaine, over 4,115 grams of methamphetamine oil, 16,9 grams of crack cocaine and 14.3 grams of crystal meth. They also allegedly found more than $3,700 in cash that was thought to be from the sale of narcotics. Ultimately, authorities said that the drugs seized were worth a total of $428,460. Authorities noted that the investigation was still ongoing, so it was not disclosed if any other individuals were thought to be involved.

The accused man was identified as a 44-year-old Panama City resident. He was charged with multiple drug offenses, including trafficking cocaine, trafficking methamphetamine, keeping and maintaining a house used to manufacture and sell drugs and manufacturing of drug paraphernalia. He was also charged with possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.

Those who are facing drug charges after being accused of committing drug crimes may face serious legal consequences that could include a lengthy prison sentence, expensive fines and a criminal record that reduces the number of opportunities individuals have when it comes to obtaining jobs or going to school. A criminal law attorney may launch an investigation into the charges to determine if the scope of the search warrant was exceeded or if the accused person's rights were violated. If so, the attorney may move to have certain evidence suppressed.
