Mother and daughter arrested in drug bust

A Florida mother and daughter are facing multiple drug charges after police executed a search warrant at their Port St. Lucie home on Aug. 23. The raid came as the result of numerous neighborhood complaints about the property and an undercover sting operation.

According to the Port St. Lucie Police Department, multiple members of the community voiced concerns about suspicious activities occurring in the defendants' home, located on the 300 block of Southwest Fairway Avenue. After hearing the complaints, undercover officers went to the property and purchased 40 Xanax pills. Following the sting, more officers went to the property and allegedly smelled marijuana coming from inside the home. They then obtained a search warrant.

During the search, officers reportedly uncovered 100 grams of marijuana, 45 grams of cocaine, 34 grams of liquid methamphetamine, 28.5 grams of synthetic cannabinoids and 57 Xanax pills. The residents of the home, a 54-year-old old mother and her 21-year-old daughter, were both arrested and transported to the St. Lucie County Jail for processing. The mother was charged with two counts of possessing drugs without a prescription and released on $20,000 bond. The daughter was charged with 11 felony drug crimes, including trafficking cocaine over 28 grams, trafficking methamphetamine over 14 grams and drug trafficking controlled substances.

Felony drug convictions can result in long prison terms, steep fines and a permanent criminal record. However, some defendants are able to obtain a better outcome by retaining the services of a criminal defense attorney who can in many cases construct a strategy to counter the allegations and ameliorate the consequences.
