School security guard faces drug charges

A Florida school security guard lost his job after being arrested for several drug charges on Nov. 5. The 43-year-old man was employed at Felix Varela Senior High School; however, he was arrested from his home and is now facing multiple accusations. Undercover police claim that they saw the man selling drugs to another man at a local gas station located near the high school campus. The sale reportedly took place during school hours, but there is as of yet no evidence that students were involved.

Police say that they began observing the man after they received an anonymous tip accusing him of dealing drugs. He was pulled over in his car after police claimed to witness the gas station transaction; they found a THC cartridge and 1 gram of cocaine in his vehicle's center vehicle. However, they later obtained a search warrant for the man's home. After searching the house, authorities found 790 grams of marijuana and 29.4 grams of cocaine, both stored in the man's bedroom.

The man is facing a number of drug charges, including trafficking in cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of 29.4 grams of cocaine and possession of cocaine near a school convenience store. He is also being charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a THC cartridge. After the arrest, Miami-Dade County Public Schools announced that the man would lose his job after 16 years of employment due to the arrest.

When people are accused of drug crimes, they can face severe penalties and repercussions in all areas of life. A conviction can lead to a felony criminal record as well as hefty fines or jail time. Someone who is facing drug charges can work with a criminal defense attorney to challenge police evidence and prosecution narratives.
