Points about victim cooperation in domestic violence cases

Many different factors may be involved in a domestic violence charge. In some cases, the prosecution is relying on statements made by the alleged victim. This means that your family member could have to testify against you, in some circumstances, e.g., if the alleged victim decides to stop cooperating. This is a precarious position.

A 31-year-old Florida man was taken into custody on May 30 on drug possession charges after allegedly claiming to be a federal agent according to a report from the Lake County Sheriff's Office. Deputies say that the man told them that he was working undercover when a records check revealed that he was driving on a revoked license. He is also said to have admitted to concealing several items on his person. Deputies assigned to the office's street crimes unit say that the man then produced $900 in cash and 31 packages of heroin.
