Florida woman taken into custody after alleged theft

When individuals are accused of having stolen items, they may wonder how they came to be in such a situation. Theft charges can have a serious effect on a person, and he or she may wish to determine how to potentially handle the legal proceedings that he or she may face. One woman in Florida may be looking to gather such information after recently being taken into custody.

It was reported that the 37-year-old woman was at a department store with her niece. A security guard allegedly saw the two women hiding merchandise while they were walking through the store. It was unclear when or where the two women were confronted about the alleged shoplifting, but the security guard purportedly informed police about what he witnessed.

The merchandise that was reportedly being taken was worth over $860. As a result of the situation, the woman was taken into custody. She was released from a correctional facility after posting a $2,500 bond. It was also noted that because the woman worked for a county school system, she would be placed on administrative leave.

As the Florida woman’s case moves forward, she may wish to find out more information on the theft charges she faces. In addition to gaining such knowledge, she may also want to learn about her legal options for creating and presenting a criminal defense against the allegations. An attorney experienced in criminal defense would be able to help her understand her situation and devise a defense strategy that is in her best interest.
